Stacey Axelrod: Hey Foster Friends, Stacey here with a quick announcement. We're wrapping up production on three new episodes of Why We Foster and we can't wait to share them with you. Here's a little preview of what's to come…

Kristen Hassen: We all need to be very brave and very bold over the next few years to change animal welfare. As we try to re-imagine a lot of our institutions and we rethink how we serve vulnerable people in our communities, we also need to fundamentally rethink animal services. Because what we've been doing is no longer appropriate for the world we live in today. Our biggest problem with fostering is we're making it too hard for people.

Sarah Brasky: So I knew that there was potential for change. And everything was in the mindset of how can we make this more accessible, take away barriers to fostering, make it a positive experience for everybody. And that is what makes all the difference in getting people's foot in the door.

Dan Schachner: There's an incredible foster community out there that are so supportive of one another. If you want to be involved in the animal community, there's a place for you. There's always something you can do that can make a difference and expand your world.

Zach Jobin:  Open your hearts as wide as you can when you're involved in the dog community.

Dorie Herman: It's all about ripples in the pond. You just need to make that first move.

Tina: I've only just begun this journey and I have no doubt I'll have wonderful stories to tell and I'm meeting such wonderful animals.

Christine Nendick:  I feel like now, like, I have a hundred pets of my own!

Megan Penney:  So, happy fostering!

Stacey Axelrod: Tune in for new episodes of Why We Foster, released weekly in August wherever you listen to podcasts.
