Why sign up for our Foster Roster? It’s simple: we want to help you find the dog who needs you!

The volunteer team at Foster Dogs is responsive, thorough, and friendly. We offer quarterly “Foster Rewards”, such as gift cards and fun perks, to people who are active foster parents. Sign up to add yourself to our Foster Roster, and we will contact you when a great potential foster dog for you becomes available!

About the Process:

  1. Apply at the link above to our Foster Roster! We will be in touch within two weeks with foster dogs for you.
  2. Once you begin communication with the rescue group responsible for a specific dog (a third party), we are here for questions, comments, and suggestions; it becomes the responsibility of the rescue group to continue the conversation and to review your application.
  3. FYI: The Foster Roster is not a “Common Application,” and might not be accepted at every rescue group (due to each group’s contracts and legal responsibilities). You may be required to complete a foster application when you apply to care for a dog.
  4. You may request removal from the Foster Roster at any time, just contact us.
  5. When you receive an email with a foster opportunity, we ask that you have an open mind and open heart! It’s not always easy, but it’s pretty great.
  6. Once you begin fostering, request to join our Foster Forum to seek advice from other experienced foster caretakers around New York City. We are here to support you as much as possible, and want you to know you are not alone; no question is too simple or obvious!
  7. Keep in touch; let us know how your experience works out with the rescue group, and please send us a foster photo!
  8. Disclaimer: Foster Dogs is comprised of dedicated people, many of whom are volunteers, who help create the bridge between people who want to help dogs, with dogs who need homes! This Foster Roster helps us connect willing foster homes with rescue groups in need. While we do our best to track the progress of all dogs listed our site, we do not handle the foster / adoption approval process, as that is the duty of the rescue group or shelter.
