ANIMAL FOSTERING

Sandy Fosters, on Facebook: This is a Facebook group for people volunteering to foster / work at shelters, for people needing to place their dog in foster care, and for rescues needing assistance. This group is affiliated with Hurricane Sandy Lost and Found Pets.

Best Friends Animal Society NYC. Foster families needed. Would you be willing to foster a dog or cat displaced by the hurricane? Some animals are without a home. Others have families who cannot care for them right now and need someone to care for them until they are back on their feet. If you'd like to foster, please email Best Friends volunteer Jackie at punky0617@yahoo.com. Indicate the type of animal you can foster, how many, any other animals at home and any other pertinent information. If you have questions please email me at tammyh@bestfriends.org

Foster homes for Hurricane Sandy victims: From volunteer Kate Rivello 11/11/12: "We have a crew going door to door to door in Staten Island today rescuing dogs and cats right out of houses. PLEASE CALL ME TODAY IF YOU CAN FOSTER, we will have the address where the animals came from and we will locate the owners. The rescuers are from out of state so we want these animals to stay here! Please call: 845 856 7366.

From Anarchy Animal Rescue, based in Staten Island: Many families have lost their homes, and need someone to foster their pet while they get back on their feet. Please complete and return a foster application on the rescue group's website. Include how long you will be able to provide a temporary home. Spread the Word (in PA): The Red Paw Relief Team, which works in conjunction with the Red Cross, is on the scene in Philadelphia and sharing information about the displaced pets they’re helping on their Facebook page.
